I just got this from Mike Fowen:-

    MultiHoster

Well folks I have a date for the Triple Heart Bypass operation. I go into hospital on the 30th November and have the Op the next day 1st December.

The news came out of the blue this afternoon, Sally took a call from the hospital asking if this date was OK, she phoned me at work and I phoned the hospital to confirm.

    So 17 days and counting.

I wish you well mate as I guess others do that read this.

    Ozzy.

I received this email while I was on my annual 4 week holiday in Florida. Sorry about the delay in adding it here but have had the flu, stuffy office shared with 80 others.

Spike got in touch and sent some photos, one in particular was of interest to me and it was the pre-passout. I noticed the 210 scrawled on the back wall and I like to think I had a hand in that as it was the kind of thing I did in those days, but it is so long ago I don’t suppose any of us remember who did it. Here is the email that he sent which the photo’s where attached to:-

Hi Ozzy, here’s a blast from the past. Ralph Lawton ( SPIKE ) A Fitt A. After Halton I went to 51 Sqn Wyton then I became an Air Engineer on C130’s. Commissioned and left as a Flt Lt to take up a 15 year stint in Commercial Aviation. Now Retired and living in Wiltshire.
Thanks Spike the photo’s and the Entry Order of Merit are  very much appreciated
Spike sent the 210 Order of Merit as a .pdf but I had to convert it to separate .jpg images. If anyone wants the original .pdf just let me know and I’ll attach it to an email. It is over 5MB.

I never in a hundred years expected it would be left up to me, Dave “Ozzy” Osborn, to set up a website for our illustrious 210th Entry, No.1 School of Technical   Training, RAF Halton.

Can any of you ex-brats please gather up some of your old photos or write a short/long story of your time at Halton and send them to me via the email icon shown at the top right of this page. I will endeavour to put all of your work on the site. I have none of my own and I will gladly give you full credit for each and every photo or story published.

Mike Fowen kindly supplied the “SOCIT TUUM”210 Entry crest image.

I have no idea how many boys joined up on 4th September 1967, if anyone has a list of names or if you could supply me with names that you remember. Sgt. Thomas, on one of our earliest roll calls shouted out a name that had everyone in stitches at the time, Green P., well it was funny at the time to about 80 nervous Craft Apprentices.

I can start the ball rolling with some of the names I remember:-

Pete Masters - Thanks for the loan of the jacket.

Tony Martin - Sorry about the nose.

Dave Hatton - I bet you got the Morgan.

John Robinson - Thanks for the loan of the Mac.

    Wilkie Wilkinson -Hi Geordie.

    Alan Page - The Fencer.

Malc Pardy - I bet you wish you had kept the Morris 1000,000.

Frank Hegartty - Hope you are a better card player.

Mike Fowen - MG Magnette and klaxon.

    Pete Green - Green “Pea”.

John Riggs - Entry Artist, crest designer.

Dusty Miller - Sir Dusty now

    Tony Hill - “Elvis”

Mike Cox - Broke his ankle and finished with 211 Entry

Ralph “Spike” Lawton - Pockets full of 252’s

Old age has gotten the better of me and I can see the faces but can’t put names to them, sorry.

    Cheers,

    Ozzy.

If our old maths teacher finds this site, Flt Lt. Harris then please get in touch “Flight”

Trevor Hempsall got in touch, he was one of the E Fitt (G)’s and his list of names he can remember consists of:-

    The E Fitt G’s were:
    Tony Allenby
    Dennis Hudson
    Mick Adams
    Fred McGrail
Rob Rivett - Should have been “rigger” with a name like that.
    Mick Robson
